Reggie Bush to undergo season-ending surgery for torn MCL

Reggie Bush

Injuries have once again struck Reggie Bush.

The San Francisco 49ers running back will undergo season-ending surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn MCL in his knee, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.

Bush was injured when he slipped on the concrete at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis on Sunday after being pushed out of bounds (video here).

Bush had just 28 yards on eight carries this season and 19 yards on four catches. He suffered the knee injury on his first touch of the game, which came on a punt return that netted zero yards.

“I just slipped and fell,” Bush said after the game. “I’m not angry that it happened. It is what it is.”

Bush has only played in 121 of 160 regular season games during his 10-season NFL career. He has suffered knee, leg and hamstring injuries that have caused him to miss time.
