Reggie Northrup signs with Lil Wayne’s sports agency
Like most NFL players, Reggie Northrup has signed with a sports agency. Unlike most players, he’s signed with one tied to a rap star.
Florida State held its pro day on Tuesday with Northrup among those expected to participate. Also that day came the news the senior linebacker would be represented by Young Money Sports to handle his marketing and branding, as reported by TMZ. Lil Wayne posted a photo of the his newest client to his Instagram account.
Leading up to the pro day, Northup had been working out in California, which is where the partnership blossomed.
“Lil Wayne seen something in me,” Northrup told the Tallahassee Democrat. “He’s seen me play. He wanted to start something up, and get involved in the sports world. He’s a big fan of sports. He liked my game, and they wanted to do something with me.”
Northrup played in 13 games this past season for the Seminoles and led the team in tackles with 94. He also had three pass breakups and three passes defended. This came after surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee in January 2015.
Despite a prominent role at one of college football’s premier programs, Northrup is not among the 333 players graded by ESPN for the upcoming draft. Hopefully, a team likes Northrup’s game as much as Lil Wayne did.
