Report: Greg Hardy cancels nightclub event because he was ‘catching heat’

Greg Hardy

Greg Hardy was scheduled to host a Thanksgiving party at a nightclub this week, but the Dallas Cowboys defensive end has apparently cancelled out of fear of doing more damage to his public image.

Club promoter Ron King told TMZ on Wednesday that Hardy was supposed to host a “Welcome to Dallas” event at TBD nightclub on Thanksgiving night. Hardy’s people reached out to King earlier this week and told them “Greg can’t do the party anymore.”

“Greg’s people said he was catching heat for having the party so he couldn’t do it … now I have to find some other big name Cowboys to sponsor it on short notice,” King explained.

TMZ also spoke to club managers who confirmed that Hardy backed out. It’s unclear if the Cowboys pressured Hardy to reconsider, but a team representative told TMZ that the Cowboys are not involved with any events like that and “whatever the promoters said is what you have to go with.”

The timing is certainly interesting, as a report from last weekend indicated that Hardy is starting to lose the support of the Cowboys. The 27-year-old didn’t have a heck of a lot of support outside of the organization to begin with, but things really came to a head when disturbing photos of his ex-girlfriend surfaced a few weeks ago.

Hardy has basically been unapologetic since he was arrested for domestic violence, even briefly changing his Twitter bio to say he is innocent. It’s hard to believe he would suddenly care enough about his image to bail out on an event without pressure from the Cowboys.
