Report: Johnny Manziel indicted by grand jury

Johnny Manziel Colleen Crowley

Johnny Manziel has been indicted by a grand jury in Dallas on a misdemeanor assault charge, according to a report.

KRLD says Manziel has been indicted for assault with bodily injury related to an incident with his ex-girlfriend earlier this year. The two got into it during a car ride where Manziel allegedly struck Colleen Crowley multiple times. Her attorney says she suffered a ruptured eardrum as a result.

A police report for the incident says Crowley tried jumping out of the car and was dragged back in by Manziel. She also voiced a complaint to a valet at a hotel.

Police initially declined to charge Manziel for the incident, but the case went to a grand jury for further investigation.

KRLD also reports that Crowley and Manziel reached an out of court civil settlement for the incident. However, that will not clear Manziel from being charged for his alleged crime.

NFL teams were waiting to see what would happen with Manziel’s domestic violence case before potentially showing interest in him for the upcoming season, but that even seems fruitless, as Manziel has been doing so much partying lately, he seems intent on wrecking any remaining chances of continuing a playing career. The only positive news for him is a previous report said a video could vindicate him.
