Well duh, they have Rex at quarterback. Of course they’re going to win the NFC East. I mean this is a no-brainer. As soon as I heard that Grossman was listed at the top of the team’s depth chart, I took out my pen and confidently marked the Skins down as my NFC East winner. I envisioned Rex throwing for four touchdowns per week, picking apart the Eagles secondary. I pictured Washington’s vaunted defense shutting out Dez Bryant, Hakeem Nicks, and Michael Vick. I mean shoot, who didn’t have the Redskins down as division favorites as soon as they learned Grossman had wrestled the starting quarterback job away from John Beck?
“We’re fine being the sleepers right now. We’re just waiting in the wings ready to take over the NFC East. Nobody’s talking about us, it’s right where we want to be. You look at us from top-to-bottom out here, there’s a bunch of great players. We don’t need people saying we’re the best right now, but when it’s all said and done, I really feel like this team’s going to win the East.”
Pro Football Talk put it well quipping that they’ll win the division, only in a different year. Precisely.
I like when players have confidence in themselves and their team. That’s the way it should be. Maybe the Redskins will surprise some people. But with Rex at quarterback, it’s always an adventure. One game he’ll give you Rex Grossman, and in another he’ll be Gross Rexman. As long as he continues to perform the same way he always has, they’re not winning the division.Google+
