Richard Sherman has torn ligaments in elbow; Earl Thomas dislocated shoulder

Richard Sherman elbow

We knew entering the Super Bowl that two key members of the Seahawks defense were playing through injuries, but we did not quite know the extent of them. Now we know that they are pretty serious.

NBC Sports’ Michele Tafoya reported before Super Bowl XLIX began that Richard Sherman is playing with torn ligaments in his elbow. The injury was suffered when he was hit by a teammate in the NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers. She also said Earl Thomas had a dislocated shoulder/torn labrum in the championship game.

Both players were listed as “probable” on the Friday injury report provided by the Seahawks. They each said the injuries would not keep them out of the game. Kam Chancellor was also listed as probable with a knee injury.
