Robert Griffin takes high road after criticism from Darrell Green

Robert Griffin III took the high road on Wednesday when asked about the criticism Washington Redskins legend Darrell Green threw his way.

In an appearance on “The Sports Junkies” on 106.7 The Fan earlier this week, Green called RG3 out for parading his new girlfriend around while he is still legally married.

“I don’t appreciate his moral stance, what he’s doing with his wife, his kids,” the former cornerback said, as transcribed by Scott Allen of the Washington Post. “I mean, he’s jacked up, and that’s not good. I don’t appreciate that. When you have responsibilities — young people looking at you, [he] had this whole city in his hands — and when you do that, you’re responsible for more than yourself and that’s selfish and that’s childish, the way he’s operating.”

Green also said that Griffin has no one to blame but himself for the way his career unraveled with the Redskins, noting that RG3 has made more mistakes with his “mouth” than his arm and legs.

Griffin said he was “disappointed” by Green’s remarks.

“I make sure I don’t focus on those things,” he said, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “That’s the first time I’ve ever heard of that. For Darrell, a guy that I know personally, that’s his prerogative. Whatever you say in the public sphere, you have to make sure you’re ready to say that in the private sphere as well.

“Darrell hadn’t approached me about anything and I consider him a friend, so that’s disappointing, but it’s nothing that I can control. I just focus on being here with the Browns, worry about football, focus on that and don’t let anything distract me.”

RG3 and his wife Rebecca Liddicoat have been separated for months. They have a daughter together, but Griffin has had no issue kissing his new girlfriend in public and writing her sappy messages on social media. While RG3’s personal life is his own business, he is basically inviting people into it.
