Rodney Harrison blasts Jeff Fisher over dirty plays

Rodney-Harrison-Says-Brett-Favre-Loves-Media-AttentionThe Minnesota Vikings aren’t the only ones who feel like the St. Louis Rams were intentionally playing dirty on Sunday. Rodney Harrison knows all about it because he’s seen it before.

The former Pro Bowl defensive back and current NBC Sports analyst said on “Football Night in America” Sunday that the Rams’ actions against the Vikings, such as committing a low hit that was not called a penalty, and the higher-profile late hit that concussed Teddy Bridgewater, did not come as a surprise to him.

“I wasn’t surprised because it happened to me in 2006. Bobby Wade came and chopped my knees, tore my knee up, I’m laying on the ground. I look at Jeff Fisher — he’s smiling and laughing. This is typical of Jeff Fisher-type teams,” Harrison said.

The hit on Bridgewater came high and late and was described by the Vikings as a “cheap shot” (you can see it here). It was a dirty hit because Bridgewater had already given himself up by sliding.

The argument that this is typical of a Gregg Williams defense makes sense since Williams, now with the Rams, was the Saints’ defensive coordinator who promoted the infamous bounty system. However, this is the first we’ve heard of Fisher being unethical and promoting dirty behavior as Harrison alleges. It will be interesting to see if Fisher responds. Of course, he might not take the accusations too seriously when they come from a guy who was accused of a dirty hit or two himself.
