Report: Roger Goodell vows to review Cam Newton situation
Cam Newton complained, and now he has the ear of the league.
Newton voiced complaints after Sunday’s win over the Arizona Cardinals about his lack of protection from referees during games. Newton took some big hits that did not result in penalties, and he already missed a game this season due to a concussion.
Following the Panthers’ victory, the reigning league MVP said he no longer felt safe on the field and was upset that referees keep telling him they’re missing hits he complains about.
On Monday, Carolina head coach Ron Rivera apparently made a call to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell regarding Newton.

ESPN’s Ed Werder also apparently said the league will review the situation and he will talk with Newton.

In addition to the hits on Sunday, Newton was hit hard multiple times in the Panthers’ opener against the Denver Broncos. Newton was hit so badly in that game — with many of the hits not resulting in proper penalties — that it led Newton’s father to wonder whether officials have a bias against his son.
