The 24-year-old Hillman might have been seen as a fungible piece with the team spending big money this offseason to retain C.J. Anderson. But he posted 863 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns in 2015 (both tops on the Broncos), and they always appeared interested in bringing him back.
While undersized and not much of a big-time playmaker, the SDSU product has proven himself at least as serviceable situational depth in the backfield. Hillman should do well reclaiming his role as the change-of-pace back behind Anderson as Denver looks to defend their Super Bowl title in 2016.
