Russell Wilson slept 2-3 hours a night to rehab more, had trainer move in with him

Russell Wilson played through a high ankle sprain and a sprained MCL against the New York Jets on Sunday, but neither injury seemed to bother him. I guess when you sleep less so you can rehab more and have a personal trainer move into your house, the recovery period becomes a bit shorter.

Last week, The MMQB reported that Wilson had rehab specialist Drew Morcos move into his home after he suffered a knee injury. Following Sunday’s win over the Jets, Wilson explained how he was able to keep himself healthy enough to not miss a game.

“Drew’s a movement specialist. So I was pretty much keeping it moving all week,” he told Peter King. “I’m on a bike, or I’m doing one-legged squats. I’d go to bed maybe at 1, then wake up super early to do more icing around 3 or 4.”

It must have worked, because Wilson had his way with the Jets to the tune of 309 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He completed 71.9 percent of his passes and posted a passer rating of 133.5 — his best of the season.

When King asked Wilson how his new wife Ciara felt about a trainer living in the house, the Seattle Seahawks star said she was all for it.

“We were all in,” he said. “Ciara’s great about it. She was at the game today too, with about 30 family and friends.”

The Seahawks have a bye next week, which is why many felt they should have held Wilson out and given him a full three weeks to recover. Despite how nasty his knee injury looked originally (video here), he didn’t need it.
