Ryan Fitzpatrick allows lease to expire on New Jersey rental home

Ryan Fitzpatrick Jets

New York Jets fans are already on edge over reports that the team is nowhere close to reaching an agreement with Ryan Fitzpatrick, and the quarterback’s current living situation could make them even more nervous.

Darryl Slater of NJ Advance Media has discovered that the house where Fitzpatrick and his wife were staying in New Jersey last year is available for rent. Fitzpatrick has decided to not renew the lease, and the home has been available since July 15. The price tag on the eight-bedroom, seven-bathroom house is $9,500 per month.

While Fitzpatrick’s decision to find a new place to live doesn’t necessarily mean he won’t be returning to the Jets, the timing is not ideal. Training camp begins next week, and the two sides appear no closer to a deal than they were five months ago.

It has been assumed that the Jets want to know by the start of training camp if Fitzpatrick is returning, but a recent report indicated the standoff could drag into the preseason. Several Jets veterans have made it clear that they want the team to re-sign Fitzpatrick, but Brandon Marshall is even starting to worry based on some of his recent exchanges with the 33-year-old quarterback.

Geno Smith could very well be the starting quarterback for the Jets in Week 1.
