Report: Ryan Fitzpatrick would ‘rather not play football’ than take Jets offer

It would appear that Ryan Fitzpatrick is a bit insulted by the New York Jets’ most recent offer.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Fitzpatrick has told people that he would “rather not play football” than accept the contract the Jets have tabled.

The offer is reportedly unchanged from the original proposal in the $7-$8 million range, well beneath the reported $16 million Fitzpatrick is seeking.

At least for the moment, the Jets aren’t budging, and are looking at other external candidates. They even explored a move for the No. 1 draft pick. They’d like Fitzpatrick back, but they aren’t really sweating it.

As for Fitzpatrick, well, his problem is finding interest. The Jets aren’t willing to pay up, but nobody else really is either. The Broncos were said to have interest long ago, but they’re definitely not going to pay him that much money either, so the Jets may just wait and call Fitzpatrick’s bluff here.
