Sam Bradford reportedly expected to miss at least one week

Sam Bradford

Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford suffered a separated shoulder and a concussion on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, and now could be out of action through Thanksgiving.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com on Monday, the former Heisman Trophy winner, who sustained the injuries after a hard hit by linebacker Chris McClain in the third quarter (video here), is expected to miss next Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers, as well as possibly Philadelphia’s Thanksgiving Day showdown with the Detroit Lions. Mark Sanchez would start at quarterback for the Eagles, as the severity of Bradford’s ailments plus an unfriendly schedule with two games in five days could prevent him from returning under center until December.

Sanchez finished out Sunday’s game for Bradford, completing 14 of 23 passes for 156 yards with zero touchdowns and one interception as the Eagles were narrowly defeated by the final of 20-19. The former USC star does not represent much of a dropoff from Bradford, especially given how mediocre the latter has been this season. And going into a couple of winnable games against some underwhelming teams in Tampa Bay and Detroit, this news should not change the outlook of Chip Kelly and Co. much for the next two weeks.
