Sam Bradford said to be upset over Eagles’ draft trade

Sam Bradford

The Philadelphia Eagles’ trade to move up in next week’s NFL Draft apparently has lit a fire under Sam Bradford’s behind.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Bradford is mad about the trade and feels the challenge.

“He’s hot,” a source told Schefter. “Who wouldn’t be? This is Philly saying, ‘We don’t see (you) as long-term answer.’ He’s mad and wants to show everyone who’s best.”

That’s a natural reaction for Bradford to have, but the real question is: Did the Eagles make the right move?

Bradford does not appear to be a franchise QB. He’s good enough to go around .500 for you, but he’s not winning games the way the league’s top QBs are. Drafting another QB makes sense. But did they pay too hefty of a price?

The Eagles traded their No. 8 overall pick, a 3rd and 4th this year, next year’s first round pick, and a second in 2018, just to move up to No. 2. They are planning to take a quarterback, and it will either be Jared Goff or Carson Wentz, depending on whom the Rams take first overall.

I really don’t like how much Philly gave up (at least it wasn’t as much as the Rams did), but I do like Wentz. If they draft Wentz, I think they’ll be in decent shape, although it will hurt not having the first next year or second in 2018, because that will inhibit their ability to put a team around him. The team that gives up all these future picks for Goff is the one that will really be screwed, and I think that will be the Rams.
