Watch: Sam Darnold gets slow clap treatment upon arrival at Jets’ camp
When you’re a rookie who shows up to camp late, expect the veterans to make things at least a little bit uncomfortable for you.
That is what happened to New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold, who hit the practice field for the first time Monday after belatedly signing his rookie deal.
Darnold’s Jets teammates spotted him and started a slow clap as he jogged into position, as seen on NFL Network.

Darnold was a bit late to camp due to a dispute with the Jets over guaranteed money, but that was settled on Monday and he’s good to go. He just had to get a little bit of awkwardness out of the way with his new teammates.
