Sammy Watkins has doubts about his role in Rams offense increasing
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Sammy Watkins has been targeted only 20 times this season, only good for fifth on his team, despite once being one of the league’s better young receivers — and he’s not sure it’ll change.
Watkins admitted Wednesday that he was not sure that he saw any way that his limited role in the offense would change anytime soon.
“I don’t know,” Watkins said, via Rich Hammond of the Los Angeles Daily News.
Watkins did not mince words when asked if he found his role frustrating.
“As a player, of course you’re going to be frustrated,” Watkins said. “I don’t know a player, a wide receiver, that’s not frustrated throughout the game if you’re not getting the ball. Each week, it could change. They had certain coverage that kind of took me out of the game, and that’s part of the game.”
Watkins has not been afraid to voice his frustration over his role — it’s certainly not what he had hoped for since the Rams acquired him.
