Report: Sean Payton not going to Dolphins

Sean Payton

Sean Payton may finally be leaving the New Orleans Saints after coaching them for the past decade.

Speculation has grown that the Saints may be ready to begin a new era featuring a different coach and quarterback. There has been talk that Payton would be interested in the Colts job and an LA team. There was also a report saying Payton would have interest in the Giants job if it becomes available.

One place Payton likely will not be going is Miami, however. Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reports that the Dolphins are not going to offer their head coaching job to Payton. Florio says the 49ers and Colts could be the primary options for Payton, with the Giants and Cowboys as long shots.

Payton has coached New Orleans since 2006 (save the season he was forced to miss in 2012). He made the playoffs five out of nine years, including a Super Bowl win. His offenses led the league in yards five times and never finished lower than sixth.
