Steelers downplay Giants’ complaints of deflated footballs

deflated football

The Pittsburgh Steelers responded to accusations of using deflated footballs with a mix of indifference and amusement.

The New York Giants reported the Steelers to the NFL for using under-inflated footballs during their game last weekend. For coach Mike Tomlin, there’s nothing to it.

“I heard about it but we have absolutely no response,” Tomlin said Sunday, via Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk. “We’ll cooperate fully with whatever New York wants to do in regards to that. We have absolutely nothing to hide. It’s a non-story for us.”

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was even more flippant when asked about the story, joking that the Steelers use “Nerf balls.”

So there you have it. It’s unclear how far this investigation will proceed, if at all, but Pittsburgh certainly doesn’t sound worried about any wrongdoing being discovered on their part.
