Steelers intend to hit DeShone Kizer ‘often’ in NFL debut
The Pittsburgh Steelers want to see how well DeShone Kizer can stand up to an NFL defense.
Kizer will make his NFL debut on Sunday at the helm of the Cleveland Browns, and the Steelers are making no secret as to what their gameplan consists of.
“Hit him often, hit him early,” defensive end Cameron Heyward said, via ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. “Doesn’t really work if you don’t hit him. You can sell all these different things, but if you don’t hit the quarterback, he’ll have time to dissect the defense.”
It’s clear that the Steelers respect Kizer’s ability based on that quote, so we’ll see if they can generate pressure — and, if they can, how much of an impact it has on the rookie. He’ll probably be okay as long as he heeds Hue Jackson’s advice, though.
