Steelers RB James Conner evaluated for concussion

James Conner

James Conner was taken into the locker room and evaluated for a concussion late in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ blowout of the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night.

Conner was seen going into the medical tent on the Steelers’ sideline late in the third quarter with Pittsburgh up 38-14. Conner later returned on the final play of the touchdown drive.

The Steelers quickly got the ball back after the Panthers fumbled the kickoff. They handed off to Conner on the first play of the possession. Conner rushed for three yards but was hit in the head by Thomas Davis on the play.

Conner was replaced on the next play and did not return to the game.

The Steelers later said that Conner was being evaluated for a concussion.

Conner had 13 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown in the game. The Steelers mixed in Stevan Ridley and Jaylen Samuels plenty throughout the game as if they were trying to mind Conner’s workload.
