Stephen Jones says it is ‘not time’ to discuss Dez Bryant’s future

The future of wide receiver Dez Bryant is hanging over the Dallas Cowboys, but it doesn’t sound like there’s any rush to resolve that.

Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones said Monday that it’s “not time” to sort out Bryant’s future, and that the team would deal with it later.

“We’ll talk about Dez when it’s time,” Jones said, via Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Star-Telegram. “It’s not time.”

Jones would only add that he has not discussed anything with Bryant’s agent at this point.

For now, there’s been little new to report. The Cowboys may still try to get Bryant to take a pay cut, which sounds like it would be a very hard sell. This story will linger until the Cowboys put it to rest, which, it sounds like, won’t come for a while yet.
