Report: Teddy Bridgewater cleared to practice by doctor

Teddy Bridgewater

It has been well over a year since Teddy Bridgewater took part in an official practice with the Minnesota Vikings, but the quarterback has reportedly been cleared to do just that starting this week.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that Bridgewater was cleared to return on Monday by the doctor who performed surgery on his dislocated knee last year. The next step will likely be the Vikings removing him from the physically unable to perform list.

Bridgewater, 24, suffered a horrific knee injury in training camp last year and missed the entire 2016 season. He began the 2017 season on the PUP list, and the Vikings now have three weeks to decide if they want to activate him or place him on injured reserve. Since Bridgewater has been cleared by a doctor, the latter almost certainly will not happen.

Sam Bradford lit it up for Minnesota in Week 1, but he has missed several games with a knee injury and the latest reports about his health do not sound all that encouraging. If Bridgewater is activated and looks good in practice, it would not be a surprise to see the former first-round pick take back his starting job in the near future.
