Terrell Owens thinks he should still be playing in the NFL

Terrell Owens

It’s been almost seven years since Terrell Owens played a snap in the NFL, but the 43-year-old thinks he should still be in the league.

Owens told Eric Dickerson in an interview for Fox Sports Radio that it is “a joke” that he’s no longer in the league.

“Me not being on the field right now is a joke — I don’t care what people say. I mean, even though I’m 43, trust me, I’m not your average 43-year-old,” Owens told Dickerson. “I can play. There’s no question about it.

“I think, when you get into your 30s, they feel like you’re on the decline. Even when I was 35, 36, 37 they said I was too old, but I was still ballin’ out with the 20-year-olds. I can go out right now and give you a 4.4 [40-yard dash time]. I don’t necessarily have to play every down, but I can give you something on that football field.”

Owens hasn’t mellowed much in retirement, especially when it comes to his Hall of Fame status. He did catch nine touchdowns at the age of 37, but that was a long time ago now.
