Terry Pegula buys Bills, will reportedly keep team in Buffalo

Bills-logoIt would appear that the Buffalo Bills are not going anywhere. The Buffalo News reports that billionaire Terry Pegula and his wife Kim have reached a deal to purchase the team, pending approval from the NFL’s owners at a meeting next month.

The Pegulas reportedly beat out Donald Trump’s group and a group from Toronto that included rockstar Jon Bon Jovi. Unlike other groups who were looking to move the team, the Pegulas have made it clear that they intend to keep the Bills in Buffalo. They also own the Buffalo Sabres and have strong personal and business ties to Western New York.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo released a statement on Tuesday expressing excitement over reports of the $1 billion sale.

“From day one, keeping the Bills in Buffalo has been one of our administration’s top priorities, and reports that Terry and Kim Pegula have been chosen as the team’s new owners highlight a tremendous step toward making that goal a reality. The Bills are an integral part of Western New York, from its economy to its culture, and as the team’s new owners the Pegulas will ensure that the Bills remain at the core of the region’s identity — just as the late Ralph Wilson, Jr. did for 54 years. Terry and Kim have already shown their commitment to the region through the Buffalo Sabres and the construction of the HarborCenter development, and I look forward to working with them in the years to come to keep the Bills in Buffalo, where they belong.”

We know at least one former Bill who is very happy to see Bon Jovi out of the picture.
