Report: Thomas Rawls out multiple weeks with fibula injury

Thomas-Rawls

Seattle Seahawks running back Thomas Rawls was supposed spread his wings and fly after Marshawn Lynch’s retirement, but his body is simply not allowing him to do so.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said on Monday that Rawls is dealing with a “fibula issue,” per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Rapoport also adds that the specific issue is a hairline fracture and that Rawls will be out a few weeks.

Rawls, 23, was held out of the team’s Week 3 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, one week after suffering the injury in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Rams (a game in which he had just reclaimed his starting running back duties to boot). Rawls was also still working his way back up to speed after an ankle break last December.

Fourth-year back Christine Michael busted out in Rawls’ Week 3 absence, finishing with 106 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Michael can safely be expected to do the heavy lifting in the Seattle backfield for however long Rawls is on the shelf.
