Report: Three teams could be interested in Browns’ No. 2 pick

Jimmy Haslam

With the top pick having already changed hands, all eyes have turned to what the Cleveland Browns will elect to do at No. 2.

Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole spoke to some NFL executives, and one in particular believes that Cleveland now holds the most valuable pick in the draft. No. 2 is now the only chance that a number of teams will have to move up and get one of the two premier quarterbacks in the draft.

Cole cites the New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, and San Francisco 49ers as three teams likely to take a long look at moving for the pick if the Browns elect to move it. The big question, however, is what the Browns will elect to do if the Los Angeles Rams take the quarterback the Browns want, which is largely believed to be Jared Goff.

The MMQB’s Peter King mentions a few other teams as well: namely the Dallas Cowboys, who sit at No. 4 and reportedly love Goff and like Carson Wentz as well. He also mentions Denver, though he stresses that it’s extremely unlikely and unrealistic for a number of reasons, but King cannot imagine John Elway starting the season with only Mark Sanchez, a trade acquisition like Nick Foles, and a quarterback drafted later a la Connor Cook. King also agrees on the Eagles, as well as the Jets – though he believes such a move would cost them Muhammad Wilkerson, at the very least.

It’s no secret that the Browns are exploring their options with consensus settling around the Rams selecting Goff ahead of them. The Eagles’ interest has been reported before, while the Jets aren’t having much luck with quarterbacks on the market.
