Todd Gurley reportedly refused to let combine doctor examine his knee

Todd Gurley

Todd Gurley is being protective of his surgically-repaired knee at the NFL combine — and for good reason.

Gurley, who suffered a season-ending torn ACL in Nov., is only three months removed from surgery to repair the torn ligament. He is at the combine this week to try impressing teams as he looks to achieve his goal of being the No. 1 draft pick.

While at the combine, NFL Media’s Mike Silver says Gurley would not allow doctors to examine his knee.

I was told by one GM and one HC that Georgia RB Todd Gurley refused to let combine doctors examine his surgically repaired knee Thursday,” Silver reports. “I am told that it is highly unusual, if not unprecedented, for a player not to allow doctors to examine him at combine, as Gurley did. It is likely that Gurley will be asked to return closer to the draft for a medical ‘recheck’ and will be examined at that time.”

Despite saying it is unusual for a player not to be checked out medically at the combine, Silver says personnel folks are very high on Gurley as both a player and person.

Dallas Cowboys reporter Bryan Broadus has a different view of things compared to Silver. According to people he spoke with, Gurley not letting combine doctors examine him is understandable and common.

In addition to questions about his knee, Gurley has been answering about the autograph scandal that led him to be suspended. Teams reportedly have been satisfied and impressed with his answers.
