Todd Gurley missed season finale due to mild turf toe
The St. Louis Rams were without star rookie running back Todd Gurley on Sunday, and it’s no surprise that their offense sputtered as a result. Now we’re learning the reason he sat out the season finale was due to a mild case of turf toe.
Rams head coach Jeff Fisher shared the news after the Rams lost 19-16 to the San Francisco 49ers in overtime:
Fisher provided more detail on Todd Gurley's injury, saying it was a mild case of turf toe. Nothing that will be a major setback.

Fisher:"But we didn't feel like it was necessary to mess with it, and create possibility where it would damage the joint a little bit more"

Gurley was listed as doubtful for the game with a foot injury and was in a walking boot during the week, so this is the most detail we’ve received about his health. It was wise of the team to not risk further damage for their most valuable offensive asset.
Gurley shined as a rookie. After missing the first two games of the season recovering from knee surgery, the Georgia product posted four consecutive 100-yard games in Weeks 4-8 (the team had a bye in between). He finished his rookie season with 1,106 yards and 10 touchdowns.
