Tom Brady says he feels better now than he did ten years ago

Tom Brady

Tom Brady isn’t feeling the rust, nor is he feeling his age.

The Patriots quarterback returned with a triumphant performance on Sunday, as he shredded the Cleveland Browns to the tune of 406 yards and three touchdowns. Why? Because he feels fantastic.

“I feel pretty good. Every week I feel pretty good,” Brady said, via Adam Kurkjian of the Boston Herald. “I think at the end of the Denver game last year, at the end of the season, after that game, well, I was a little sore after that game. I felt pretty good going into that game. I’ve talked at length how I feel over the years and I feel better at 39 than I did when I was 29.”

There was some thinking that Brady might be rusty after his suspension, but he wasn’t concerned about that by game day.

“At the start of the week, because I hadn’t been there four weeks, it was a little different for me kind of getting everything, getting back on the field with the full cast of defensive players and seeing blitzes and identifying fronts and things like that,” Brady admitted. “It comes back pretty quick. I thought Wednesday was decent, and then Thursday I felt a little better out there and Friday I felt way better than Thursday. So I was hoping Sunday that I would feel better than I did on Friday. And I think by the time I got out there in warmups and it felt like, ‘Man, I’ve done this before.'”

Maybe Bill Belichick was just trying to catch people off guard. The Browns certainly weren’t up for the task, and there’s a real fear for some teams that will only have increased after Brady’s performance on Sunday.
