Tom Brady leaves podium after Donald Trump questions (Video)

Tom Brady

Tom Brady left the podium somewhat abruptly during his Wednesday press conference after he was asked a pair of questions about his relationship with Donald Trump.

In his weekly interview with WEEI on Tuesday, Brady said he would rather stay out of the presidential debate but stood behind Trump, who he considers a good friend.

“I support all my friends in everything they do,” Brady said. “I think it’s pretty remarkable what he’s achieved in his life. You’re going from business, kind of an incredible business man and then a TV star, and then getting into politics. It’s a pretty different career path. I think that is pretty remarkable.”

He chose not to elaborate on Wednesday after he was asked about the New York Daily News mocking his relationship with Trump on its cover. Brady said he doesn’t think about that stuff much and is “just here to play football.”

As Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald notes, a Patriots PR person announced “last question” before the second question about Trump, but the session was cut short because of it.

In a way, Brady is opening himself up to criticism with his responses to Trump questions. If he wants to support his friend, he has a right to do that. But he could easily say he doesn’t agree with some of Trump’s proposed policies, such as banning all Muslims from entering the United States.

Perhaps Brady feels he needs to remain loyal to Trump after the way Trump blasted Roger Goodell on No. 12’s behalf.
