Agent Tom Condon: Peyton Manning has not decided if he will retire

Peyton Manning

Some might think Peyton Manning is dragging his feet with the inevitable announcement that he is retiring. According to his agent, Manning truly has not yet made up his mind.

In an interview with 104.3 The Fan in Denver Wednesday morning, Tom Condon said Manning has yet to reach a decision.

“To tell you the truth, I know that Peyton has not decided,” said Condon.

At this point, there’s no reason to doubt that. It meshes with a report we heard from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, which indicated that Manning wants to play in 2016 but is unsure if the right situation will present itself. Condon also said in a separate interview that Manning expressed to him how much he still enjoys playing.

The Broncos are giving Manning time to make a decision, but they are all but certain to release him even if he does not retire. For what it’s worth, several NFL executives reportedly believe Manning will play in 2016 and they are already predicting where the 39-year-old will go.

Common sense would tell you that this is a perfect time for Manning to walk away from the game. His skills are very much in decline and he just won his second Super Bowl. Despite all that, the future Hall of Famer is clearly struggling with the thought of calling it a career.
