Tom Savage reportedly taken to hospital with elbow infection
The Houston Texans will be without their primary backup quarterback in Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers, as Tom Savage is being treated for an infection in his elbow.
Tracy Wolfson of CBS Sports reports that Savage was taken to the hospital on Sunday after he woke up with pain in his elbow.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport later provided more details.
#Texans QB Tom Savage has a skin infection found on the elbow (not inside the elbow), per source close to him. Being proactive with it.

Veteran quarterback Brandon Weeden will be active on Sunday as the backup behind Brock Osweiler.
Savage, a fourth-round pick out of Pittsburgh in 2014, has appeared in just two NFL games. With the way Osweiler has been struggling this season, some have called for the team to give Savage a shot. Another Texans player recently opened up about an infection that nearly cost him his life, so here’s hoping Savage’s health issue is nowhere near as serious as that.
