Travis Kelce ‘felt like an idiot’ during ejection

Travis Kelce was responsible for one of the dumbest plays on Sunday, and the Chiefs tight end says he “felt like an idiot” about his actions.

Kelce was ejected in the fourth quarter of Kansas City’s 19-14 win over Jacksonville after he received two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties on the same play.

First, Kelce was flagged for protesting the lack of a pass interference call. Then he got a second unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for pulling out a towel and throwing it like he was mimicking a referee throwing a penalty flag (video here).

“As soon as the ref took off his hat, I knew I was out. Felt like an idiot,” Kelce said after the game via ESPN. “It was a terrible decision, but just have to learn from it and keep going.”

Kelce had five catches for 58 yards in the game prior to his ejection. At least he learned the hard way that players can’t throw their flags on referees.
