Trent Murphy’s 4-game suspension stands after appeal denied

Trent Murphy

The four-game suspension Trent Murphy was facing for a PED violation will stand.

Murphy was suspended four games for a violation of the league’s performance-enhancing drugs policy, we learned last week. The Washington linebacker appealed the decision, but the league said on Friday that the suspension will stand.

Murphy, a 2014 second-round pick by Washington out of Stanford, enjoyed a breakout season last year. He racked up a career-best nine sacks, which was more than what he amassed in the two previous seasons combined.

Washington initially had Murphy set to play at defensive end last season, but they moved him back to linebacker after Junior Galette suffered a season-ending injury. Now the 26-year-old will only be able to play a maximum of 12 games during the regular season next year.
