Victor Cruz to have season-ending surgery on calf
New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz announced on Monday that he will not play at all during the 2015 season.
Cruz is set to undergo season-ending surgery on his left calf. He spoke about the injury on Bleacher Report’s “Uninterrupted” platform.
“This hurts, mainly because I worked so hard to come back from the patellar tendon surgery and fought hard day in and day out,” Cruz explained. “I felt like I was back to 100 percent and then the calf happens. It’s a tough thing to go through emotionally and physically.”
Cruz appeared in just six games last season before suffering a ruptured patellar tendon in his right knee. He dealt with the calf injury all summer and suffered a setback in late September when it appeared he was set to return.
Between the injury and the rumors about his personal life, it has been a tough year for Cruz. All he can do now is look forward to 2016.
