Von Miller questions RGIII’s toughness

Robert Griffin III is more than likely going to be the second overall pick by the Redskins in next week’s draft, but that’s not stopping Broncos linebacker Von Miller from delivering a harsh criticism of the quarterback this week.

“He can throw the ball pretty well, and he’s fast. But if you hit him enough times, he’s going to wear down,” Miller told Pro Football Weekly. “He can run and throw, but I wouldn’t put him in that same class as (Michael) Vick, Cam (Newton) or (Josh) Freeman.”

Miller is speaking from experience. As a linebacker for Texas A&M, Miller played against Griffin twice as a Big 12 rival in college. During Griffin’s freshman year, he threw for 241 yards and two TD’s in Baylor’s 41-21 victory against the Aggies. But in 2010, Miller forced Griffin to fumble on a sack during A&M’s 42-30 win over Baylor.

In Griffin’s defense, he kicked things into gear last season when Miller was already long gone for the NFL. A lot can change in a year and Miller wasn’t around for any of it. Miller did acknowledge that his comments might be rooted in some bias: “You know I can’t say anything nice about somebody from Baylor.”

Even still, this is the second time this week where Griffin has come under heat. An anonymous scout also tore into Griffin, telling the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the quarterback has “a selfish streak … He doesn’t treat anybody good.” Miller, however, went on to say he hopes Griffin can “prove me wrong.” The scout wasn’t so genial.
