Watch: Jim Kelly delivers powerful speech at ESPYs

Jim Kelly delivered a powerful acceptance speech at the ESPYs in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.

The former Buffalo Bills quarterback is the recipient of this year’s Jimmy V Award for perseverance. He was introduced by his former 1983 draft colleagues Dan Marino and John Elway, and then he spoke.

Kelly mostly talked about how he’s lived by the “Four Fs”, which consist of fun, faith, family and fans. Towards the end of his speech he gave a particularly powerful message about how you can help better the lives of those around you with your words and actions in daily life.

Kelly was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in 2013 and has undergone treatment for his cancer multiple times. He’s also undergone multiple operations, including one to remove the cancer and reconstruct his jaw earlier this year.

On June 22, Kelly’s wife said that the surgery he underwent “went well.”
