Woman assaulted over noise of television during Steelers game

The television broadcast of a Pittsburgh Steelers preseason game made things violent for one Pennsylvania family.

A 77-year-old victim’s daughter, Delores M. Amorino, and granddaughter Sarah M. Amorino are both charged with aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, strangulation, terroristic threats, false imprisonment, simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief after allegedly beating and shaving the victim’s head over the volume of her radio.

According to Paul Peirce of the Tribune-Review, the victim spent one night in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was released Wednesday. The incident began Sunday, and the volume of the Steelers broadcast was the trigger.

“The victim was unhappy with the volume of the TV after the defendants turned the volume low, so the victim locked herself in the bedroom and turned on her radio,” trooper Ty Smith said in an affadavit. “The defendants broke the door jam, entered the victim’s room saying, ‘You don’t need to listen to the game,’ and began abusing her.

“Sarah Amorino shaved the victim’s head using scissors and a shaver … also choked the victim using her bare hands, injuring the victim’s neck.”

Both women are being held on $200,000 bond each, and were arraigned on Wednesday.
