Tiger Woods: I am feeling ‘a lot better’

Tiger-Woods-dancing

Tiger Woods does not sound all that close to returning to PGA action, but it is still too early to say we have seen the last of the 14-time major champion.

Woods provided a health update on his website Wednesday. He said he has been working on his short game and is starting to take full swings.

“As I announced last week, I am starting to feel a lot better,” Tiger wrote. “I have been chipping and putting at home, and recently started hitting 9 irons. That’s been so nice. After all, Florida is the Sunshine State.

“My son Charlie and I compete in just about everything and have three-hole chipping contests. The loser has to do push-ups. My short game feels pretty sharp.”

Woods said he has some “weakening” going on in his muscles from sitting out so long after his third back procedure. He also said there is no timetable for his return and that he wants to come back when he can compete at the highest level possible.

While swinging a 9-iron isn’t exactly close to returning to tournament play, it sounds a lot better than a recent report that implied his career is in jeopardy. Still, we wouldn’t exactly be shocked if Tiger did not return until 2017.
