Twitter reacts to Tiger Woods’ brutal start at US Open

Tiger Woods is looking to win his first US Open and first major championship since 2008, but his opening round at Shinnecock Hills got off to as rough of a start as he could have imagined.

After hitting a nice tee shot and finding the fairway on the first hole, Woods hit his approach shot over the green and into the rough. He had a difficult pitch shot that he left short of the green, and it rolled back toward where he was standing. He then tried to putt the ball up to the green, but the result was the same.

Woods was able to putt the ball up to the green on his third attempt, but he ended up missing about a five-foot putt. He carded a triple bogey. Twitter was left stunned:

The course at Shinnecock played incredibly difficult on Thursday, and the leader was only 1-under par at the time of Tiger’s horrific start. He has plenty of time to make up for his first hole disaster, but that reminded us of some of the roughest moments the 14-time major champion has had recently.
