Maria Sharapova, Grigor Dimitrov have broken up
The relationship between Maria Sharapova and Grigor Dimitrov is definitely over.
The tennis players, who first began dating in 2013 from what we can tell (when Maria confirmed the relationship in a humorous way), were rumored to be over as recently as last year. Nothing was officially confirmed, however, until ESPN reporter Darren Rovell tweeted about the matter Thursday, saying that the relationship has ended.
Sharapova and Dimitrov began dating not too long after her engagement to former NBA player Sasha Vujacic ended. There were rumors in Sept. 2013 that Sharapova was getting engaged to Dimitrov after she was spotted with a massive ring, but that was dismissed. Last year Dimitrov talked about the advantage of having Sharapova supporting him at his matches, but the two notably did not attend each others’ matches at last year’s US Open, which is when breakup rumors began to surface.
One potential stumbling block in their relationship might have been the age gap; Sharapova is 28, while the Bulgarian beau is 24.
