Porsha Williams learned Kordell Stewart filed for divorce by reading it online
Kordell Stewart recently filed for divorce from his wife Porsha Williams, much to Williams’ surprise.
TMZ reported Tuesday that Stewart filed for divorce on Mar. 22 in Fulton County Superior Court in Georgia. Though Kordell reportedly stated in divorce documents that he and Williams are separated, she says she was surprised to learn of the news when reading it online.
“Mrs. Stewart is disappointed about her husband’s recent filing for divorce,” Williams said in a statement. “Mrs. Stewart had held off on filing for a divorce herself and remained committed to the marriage because Mr. Stewart promised to work on the marriage with her. Instead, he misled her and she found out about the filing in the media. Mrs. Stewart hopes to resolve these personal issues privately with the support of her family, friends and strong faith.”
Stewart, who spent 11 seasons in the NFL, said in his divorce filing that he shouldn’t have to pay spousal support because Williams is “an able-bodied person, earning income and is capable of supporting herself.”
Williams is one of the stars on the TV show “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” The couple does not have any children, and TMZ believes they have a prenuptial agreement. Stewart last played in the NFL in 2005. He made the Pro Bowl in 2001.
