Fans rush field in high school game, team loses in insane ending (Video)
One of the craziest football games of the year at any level took place on Thanksgiving Day, and we’re not talking about the Detroit Lions’ late comeback win over the Minnesota Vikings. Instead, it was Lynn Classical High School (Mass.) defeating in-city rival Lynn English High in one of the most wild finishes you’ll ever see.
With Classical leading 15-12 late in the fourth quarter, English scored what appeared to be the game-winning touchdown on a pass with just eight seconds remaining. On the ensuing kickoff, Classical fumbled and English recovered with three seconds left. Thinking the game was over, English fans stormed the field to celebrate.
But a flag had been thrown.
English was called for illegal procedure, meaning they had to kick again. And guess what happened the second time around? See for yourself:
That was right up there with the ridiculous lateral ending we saw in the Miami-Duke game (video here) roughly a year ago. What a way to end your high school career if you’re a senior at Classical.
