Report: Blackhawks fear Corey Crawford could miss season

Corey Crawford

Corey Crawford has been out for nearly a month, and now a report says the Chicago Blackhawks fear the goalie could be out for the season.

The Chicago Sun-Times’ Mark Lazerus reported on Tuesday that Crawford is dealing with vertigo-like symptoms again, and there is a growing fear he could miss the rest of the season.

Crawford was involved in a collision in the Blackhawks’ game with Dallas on Dec. 21 but finished the game despite giving up four goals. Two days later he was back in net but got pulled after allowing three goals on seven shots. He hasn’t played since then.

Crawford was initially termed out indefinitely with an upper body injury. Chicago coach Joel Quenneville even said 10 days ago he expected to have Crawford back this season. But things apparently are changing.

The 33-year-old goalie also missed time in 2016 due to vertigo symptoms. He has a .919 career save percentage and has won two Stanley Cups with Chicago. Backup Anton Forsberg has seen the majority of action for the Blackhawks with Crawford out.
