The Rangers were shutout by the Flyers in a 5-0 defeat on Saturday to fall to 34-39-9 on the season, which places them last in their division. They will be missing the playoffs for the first time since 2010.
Vigneault, 56, previously had lengthy stints with the Canucks and Canadiens. He took both Vancouver and the Rangers to the Stanley Cup Finals. This year, the bottom fell out for the Rangers, who are in rebuilding mode.
