Norwegian hockey player says he is fine after taking skate to face

A major accident was just narrowly avoided during Wednesday’s Olympic hockey game between Norway and Sweden, as a player was forced to leave the ice after taking a skate to the face.

With several players fighting for the puck near the boards in the second period, Sweden’s Joe Lundqvist fell to the ice and kicked his left leg up in the air. Unfortunately, Norway’s Kristian Forsberg found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time.

While Forsberg did suffer a cut on his face, the damage wasn’t nearly as bad as it could have been. He told reporters after the game that he received stitches and was fine.

“When you see blood, you think the worst thing, but I quickly confirmed that it was not so serious,” Forsberg told NRK.com.

Some of the most horrific sports accidents we have seen have been the result of a skate to the face, so we’re glad to see Forsberg doesn’t expect any linger effects.
