Justify becomes 13th Triple Crown winner in history
So often in horse racing history we would see a horse win the first two legs of the Triple Crown but fail to bring home the third. On Saturday, that was not the case with Justify.
Justify joined an immortal group in history by winning the 150th Belmont Stakes to become the 13th Triple Crown winner in history. He did so in an unofficial time of 2:28:18, going wire-to-wire as the champ. Gronkowski made a late charge and finished second.
Bob Baffert has now become the second person to train two horses that won the Triple Crown. Baffert also trained American Pharoah, which won the Triple Crown in 2015.
