Craig Carton suspended by WFAN amid investigation

Craig Carton

Craig Carton has reportedly been suspended by WFAN amid an investigation into his alleged crimes.

Carton, 48, was arrested on Wednesday morning by the FBI for allegedly running a Ponzi scheme that defrauded investors out of $5.6 million.

The co-host of the popular WFAN “Boomer and Carton Show” is said to have racked up millions in gambling debts to both casinos and third parties. He allegedly concocted a scheme in which he sought people to invest in a ticket reselling business. Instead, he is said to have used the investor money to pay off his gambling debts.

He did not appear for his show on Wednesday morning, instead leaving co-host Boomer Esiason to figure he was out sick.

Newsday media reporter Neil Best says Carton has been suspended and will be replaced by Phil Simms on Thursday.

Carton appeared in court on Wednesday. He was released on $500,000 personal recognizance bond after his appearance.
