Jim Nantz wife Courtney had baby before Super Bowl

Jim Nantz and wife Courtney welcomed their second child into the world earlier this week, taking out any concerns about whether or not Jim would be able to call the Super Bowl for CBS.

On Monday, Courtney gave birth to the couple’s first son — Jimmy Jr. That the baby came on Monday was a relief for the family for a few reasons. For one, Nantz said there were a lot of concerns about whether the baby would be born prematurely.

According to what Jim Nantz told the New York Post, Courtney was put on partial bed rest on Nov. 30 because of a concern that the baby might be born well before the Feb. 10 due date. Nantz obviously had to be concerned not only because of the well-being of his baby boy, but also because the due date pretty much overlapped with the Super Bowl.

Thankfully Courtney’s pregnancy went well and the baby was born normally, only a week before its due date. The baby’s name is Jameson George Nantz — Jimmy Jr. — and he will join sister Finley Cathleen Nantz.

Jim Nantz wife baby

Jim Nantz was previously married, but he and his ex-wife divorced in 2009. He began dating Courtney (formerly Courtney Richards) before the divorce was finalized. They married in 2012. Now four years later, Jim and Courtney Nantz have two children, and luckily Jim didn’t have to miss CBS’ call of the Super Bowl. From the sound of things, Courtney was not going to let him miss the game anyhow, but at least he didn’t have to worry about the decision.

Nantz also had another convenience. He was able to stay at their home in Monterrey, Calif. and make a relatively short drive up to San Francisco for media obligations prior to the big game. Now the question fans will have will be about his final call to the game.
